Educational Technology - Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Overview
The Course/Module Director is responsible for reviewing the test content and verifying the test settings.
Instructions
1. Review the Test Content
Log into Blackboard, enter your Blackboard course and locate your test by going to the area where you asked us to deploy it. Note that the test is labeled with Release Conditions as well as the Due Date and Timer.
Click on the Test name to open it. At the top, you'll see the Honor Code, followed by a list of your test questions.
Each question includes the question text, answer options (if applicable), correct answer, feedback, and point value.
Note: use the chevron (downward arrow) next to the Automated Feedback area to reveal the Correct Answer Feedback and the Incorrect Answer Feedback.
If there are any errors, you can fix them directly on this page.
A. To change the point value of a question, click on the current point value, located to the right of each individual Question and replace it with a new score. Click Save after changing the point value.
B. To edit a question, click the three dots (ellipsis action menu) to the right of the point value, then select Edit. From there, you can update the question text, answers, feedback, images, or correct answer as needed. Click Save after editing the question.
2. Verify your Test Settings
While still on the test page, scroll to the top and click the Gear Icon to open the Assessment Settings panel.
Verify that the settings match your original request by checking the:
Due Date
Access from
Access until
Time Limit
The Access from and Access until settings are located under Release Conditions settings.
Access from determines when the test becomes visible to students.
Access until determines when it is no longer visible.
Note: "Access until" may differ from the test's actual due date to allow for a designated review period.
The Assessment Results section controls when students can review their completed tests.
For quizzes, results are available immediately after submission.
For exams, results become available one day after the Due Date and remain accessible for 7 days only.
If any settings are incorrect, do not make changes on your own. Instead, email the Educational Technology and Pre-Clerkship teams to request changes.
The test is now automatically set to be available once all test settings are applied. (Unlike in the past, where the Course/Module Director needed to manually set the test to be available.)
Students will only be able to access the test once the Access from date/time is reached—there’s no need for manual availability adjustments, as was previously required in Original course.
If everything looks correct, reply to the original email thread to confirm that you’ve reviewed the test content and verified the test settings.
