Educational Technology - Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Overview
The course supporter or the course director in a 3rd or 4th year clerkship is responsible to create a copy of your course from one rotation to the next (a.k.a. one block to the next.)
The first rotation is always done by Edtech, but the subsequent block is managed by the course supporter or the course director.
Instructions
As an example, let's say you want to copy a course called "Clerkship Block 1A" into the next rotation called "Clerkship Block 1B".
Go to the course that you want to copy to. (in this case, go to Block 1B)
Under Content area, select the three dots on the right corner, then select Copy Items.
On the next page, ensure you are on the Courses tab
Locate the course that you want to copy from. (Use the search bar to quickly find your course)
Place a check mark to select the course
Click Start Copy.
There should be a loading icon on the page indicating that the copy process is running.
Wait until the copy is finished. If there is an error, it will be displayed at the top of the page. For example, below screenshot shows that there is 1 error.
Click View Exception to see what the error is. If it says the error is related to Overall Grade as shown below. You can ignore this error message.
After the copy process is completed, you may notice that there are two “Lecture Recordings” in the newly copied course. The reason is because your blank course shell has already an entry called “Lecture Recordings” and this entry has been pre-set to connect to its Echo360 course. You will need to delete the duplicated “Lecture Recordings” that was copied over from the source course.
The easiest way to tell which one to delete is by clicking on it.
If you click on it and, you are brought to the Echo360 page, then this is the one that you want to keep.
If you click on it and it asks you to configure the Echo360 page, then this is one that you need to delete.
To delete, click the three dots, then select Delete.
