Educational Technology - Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Overview
Letter grades cannot be entered directly into the gradebook; a numerical grade must be entered instead, which the system automatically converts to the corresponding letter grade. Each course includes a grading template that lists all available grade options with numerical values.
This guide provides instructions for adjusting the numerical values in the grading schema to align with your course’s grading policies or the guidance provided by your department or school. The included example illustrates how to customize your grade mapping so that each numerical value accurately corresponds to the appropriate letter grade for your course.
Update Your Grade Schema
Instructions
Select Gradebook from within your course
Click on the Gear icon in the upper right corner to open up the Settings page
Select Manage Grade Schemas
Select the existing schema you are using from the left menu. Or click on + Add to create a brand new schema.
Then you can click on the 3 dots next to the letter grade you want to change the percentage value.
We highly recommend you start making edits at the bottom of the Grade Range (the second to last lowest value). Then continue your edits moving 1 row up at a time. If you start from the top, you will run into a numerical logic error.
Click Save in the bottom right corner when you are done.
